A talking camera that can describe anything placed in front of it.
The original version was created to help my blind mother around the house, enabling her to identify everyday objects such as different flavours of crisp packets or the contents of tins before she opens them. It uses a mixture of embedded and cloud based technologies to achieve this.
It has now gone through multiple prototypes and trials, and has acted as a way to demonstrate a business concept to partners and investors.
The original prototype was created using readily available components and laser cut wood. After prototyping, a professional looking and functionally complete version was created using a specially design PCB and laser cut acrylic.
